What is PrintReleaf?
PrintReleaf is a Certification System and Software Platform for Automated Global Reforestation. The PrintReleaf system creates a global sustainability standard by certifiably guaranteeing to releaf the paper consumption used during the production of a printed piece. PrintReleaf is the only technology platform that measures customers' paper usage and certifiably reforests that usage on an equivalent basis.
how does printreleaf work?
Overview
Carbon Graphics is an Authorized Channel Partner for PrintReleaf. We follow a three-step process - each month, we tally up our paper consumption used for printing our customers' projects. The quantity is entered into our online PrintReleaf portal and that usage is certifiably reforested on an equivalent basis. The last step is monitoring and guaranteeing 100% net survivability of the trees.
STEP 1: Measurement
Through PrintReleaf, our paper consumption is measured and trees are automatically reforested across the global network of certified reforestation projects. PrintReleaf guarantees every sheet of paper we consume will be reforested at a rate of 8,333 sheets of standard letter (8.5"x11" 20lb. paper) or 37.16kg per tree (40ft height x 7in width). This open-source formula is widely and generally accepted as the industry standard as established by the Environmental Paper Network.
STEP 2: Plant & Certify
PrintReleaf certifies the reforestation of each customer's forest footprint according to the measurement and calculations defined in the PrintReleaf Standard. Each month, we are issued a certificate for trees planted at our chosen reforestation project locations. At the same time, our cumulative Lifetime certificate is updated.
STEP 3: Verification
The rigorous audit process used was developed in conjunction with SGS International, a leading global forestry auditor with expertise in Chain of Custody (CoC) certification, to uphold and maintain the integrity of the PrintReleaf Standard.
Each reforestation project is audited over an initial eight year verification timeline, then ongoing, until capacity is achieved to ensure 100% net survivability of trees.
